Our client a niche supplier of bulk liquid storage facilities to the food, industrial, feed and energy sectors is looking for an experienced and ambitious HSE Advisor to join its team based in Liverpool.

Reporting straight into the Managing Director the successful HSE Advisor will be expected to implement Health, Safety and Environment policies and standards to ensure compliance with current and pending legislation.

To be considered for the HSE Advisor role you will have Knowledge and experience of C.O.M.A.H and will also have

  • Demonstrable experience of Health & Safety Management procedures systems and auditing
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk
  • Good knowledge of current and pending Health & Safety legislation
  • Hold as a minimum a current NEBOSH certificate and be prepared to study to gain a higher qualification
  • Have knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 / 14001
  • Be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels

An Internal SHE auditor qualification would be very much welcome as would be any knowledge and understanding of the bulk liquids / liquid processing industries, but this is not essential.

You will be an HSE Advisor who wants to quickly move into a management position, and you will also need to go to the terminal sites as and when required, with the majority of the sites being based in the Northwest and Northeast of England.

The HSE Advisor will also be tasked with

  • Liaising and working with authorities such as HSE / EA and the Client’s management team, to ensure the business complies with all relevant Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and fulfils its duties and responsibilities attaching to its COMAH and Environmental Permit licences.
  • Represent the client on the TSA Safety Council.
  • Advising the Group’s management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Liaising / working with the client’s management team to ensure that SHE and Operational risk assessments are adequate and that all actions from risk assessments are communicated appropriately.
  • Implementing a Health & Safety audit programme and ensure non-conformances are “closed out”.
  • Monitoring accident, incident, and complaint statistics, identifying trends and recommend improvements.
  • Implementing a Health & Safety training programme.
  • Providing the business with SHE Legislation advice when considering new products and or contracts.
  • Continuously reviewing and improving of Health, Safety and Environment related documents i.e., SHE policies, standards, and related procedures / work instructions and to be the main custodian of all SHE systems, particularly the SHE SharePoint site and LMS 365 training platform.
  • Auditing 7 locations plus 1 COMAH site in the UK
  • Deliver training and Health & Safety and Environment Management expertise to 100 employees in the UK
  • Be the main contact for the HSE / EA annual site visits
